"In 2016, where an always-connected generation screams for attention through new, often contrived definitions of “cool” and surprisingly predictable proclamations of uniqueness, singer and spoken word artist Tony Adamo arrives seemingly from nowhere as a true anachronism: a performer who is authentically “cool” in a timeless, almost reckless way that almost no popular artist today can match." Grammy Talk Pushes Tony Adamo Into Top 200 On AllAboutJazz!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Tony Adamo official website) Since the deadline for a Grammy consideration stopped on August 28 of this year, Tony Adamo's vocal/hipspoken word artist profile on Allaboutjazz has jumped from nowhere to #191 on ABJ's top 200 most popular jazz artists list. He moved past Grover Washington JR, Kenny Dorham, Carlos Santana, and Cole Porter, all music greats.
Adamo's MILES OF BLU (MOB) CD is a hybrid of vocal jazz, funk and a new genre created by Adamo, "hipspoken word." MOB is produced by legendary drummer Mike Clark of Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters and mixed and arranged by Tim Ouimette. MILES OF BLU is built on the wisdom of musical wizards like Gil-Scott Heron, Mark Murphy, Jack Kerouac and hip/hop masters. "Sort of a deconstructed Miles Davis BIRTH OF THE COOL amped up to the new millennium.
Adamo is much in the same way as Miles, a visionary." Brent Black/@CriticalJazz. Tony Adamo is a Random Act Record Artist
