"In 2016, where an always-connected generation screams for attention through new, often contrived definitions of “cool” and surprisingly predictable proclamations of uniqueness, singer and spoken word artist Tony Adamo arrives seemingly from nowhere as a true anachronism: a performer who is authentically “cool” in a timeless, almost reckless way that almost no popular artist today can match." Wolff & Clark Expedition Random Act records
Wolff & Clark Expedition Random Act records
Random Act Records never fails to disappoint and the latest/debut release from Michael Wolff and Mike Clark which streets 02/19/13 is certainly no exception. If Michael Wolff sounds familiar it may be from his stint as the musical director for the Arsenio Hall show. Mike Clark is a drummer that is beyond reproach and a case could easily be made that he could be one of the best along with Jeff "Tain" Watts working today. Clark rose to prominence with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters only to have his beats sampled by countless hip-hop and rap acts. Clark works as a clinician and has published numerous method books inspiring the new breed of modern jazz players by working with such luminaries as Donald Harrison, Wallace Roney and Randy Brecker.

TONY ADAMO Gil-Scott Heron Mark Murphy Jack Kerouac
Website: http://randomactrecords.com/
On his latest effort, and debut recording for
Random Act Records, TONY ADAMO has created a
unique genre: “HipSpokenWord.” Built on the
wisdom of musical wizards like Gil-Scott Heron,
Mark Murphy, Jack Kerouac and hip/hop master
rappers, Tony speaks the Truth through his poetic
musings. With preeminent players like producer
Mike Clark (drums), Richie Goods (bass), Delbert
Bump (organ), Michael Wolff (piano), Bill Summers
(percussion) and Tim Ouimette, Rob Dixon, Derek
Gardner and even Tower of Power's own physician of the funk, Stephen "Doc" Kupka. This release will turn heads and blow minds: Tales of travails and triumphs, told in the hippest of ways! Tony speaks/sings his way through the
urban landscapes of Jazz, Funk and Soul.
From the title track “Miles of Blu,” a nod to the
dark prince of Jazz, to “JB,” an homage to the
Godfather of Soul, to a down-home “BBQ” and
asking “America R We Free,” Tony tells it like it is
in his own mesmerizing manner.
The Grooves are infectious, the moods evocative,
the music sizzling and the words – HIP! “MILES OF
BLU” takes listeners on a swinging journey,
culminating in a funky good time!

Tony Adamo Mike Clark Jeff Berlin Random Act Records
A music review in the December issue of JazzTimes on the Scott Henderson/Jeff Berlin/ Dennis Chambers new CD,HBC on (Tone Center Records) One cut in particular that stands out in the review is Herbie Hancock's "Actual Proof." And how HBC interprets that song. Dig it on the serious side. If you want to get hip the the original. Then open up your ears to Mike Clark's performance on Hancock's album Thrust (1974), and particularly the song "Actual Proof", is often cited as one of the finest examples of the linear funk style of drumming. Mike Clark, Jeff Berlin and Tony Adamo have music coming out on Scott Elias's Random Act Records.

(RAR). Some of the outstanding artists Adamo will be joining are: Mike Clark, of Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, Michael Wolff, former band leader for the Arsenio Hall show, Larry Coryell named by Musician Magazine as “one of the 100 greatest guitarists alive today,” Kenny Drew, Jr., as Jazziz Magazine says has a "brilliant distinctive style," Carmen Intorre, Jr., Downbeat Magazine rates his new Cd at 31/2stars.
A recent review of one of Adamo’s new songs from his upcoming release, MILES OF BLU on RAR states: “Adamo reaches into the pre-rap turf of Gil Scott-Heron here with this seductive too-short flash memoir about how he discovered jazz and its legendary envelope pushers – Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis. There’s energy and honor and wonder in Adamo’s words, especially in the fluid alliterative syncopated way the words reflect the inspiration that jazz gave him as an artist, as a human being.”
Devon Jackson, Village Voice Rolling Stone and Details
Legendary drummer, Mike Clark is the producer on Tony Adamo’s hi-voltage vocals and Nu-Jazz Funk/Hipspokenword dialogue on MILES OF BLU Cd. So, can you dig it? Funk, bop, rock ‘til ya drop! Random Act Record artists are at the top.
