Tony Adamo & Drummer Mike Clark

YO PEOPLE CAN YA DIG?
Pitts Gambino PR
Tony Adamo and his music producer drummer Mike Clark are working' on Adamo's nu Cd for 2016. Clark brings in Mike LeDonne organ and Jack Wilkins guitar to Trading Eights Recording Studio,NJ on 2/18/15. This will be the third Cd Clark has produced for Adamo.
MIKE CLARK gained worldwide recognition as one of America’s foremost jazz and funk drummers while playing with Herbie Hancock’s group in the early 1970’s. Mike became known as a major innovator through his incisive playing on Hancock’s Thrust album, which garnered him an international cult following. Mike LeDonne has had the unique experience of playing with an unusually wide spectrum of jazz masters. His many years as a professional have included playing all over the world with everyone from old masters like Benny Goodman and Roy Eldridge to Be Bop masters like Sonny Rollins, Milt Jackson, Benny Golson and Art Farmer, to modern masters like Bobby Hutcherson and George Coleman. These are just a few of the great’s Mike has apprenticed with. Though Jack Wilkins' fretboard prowess is on par with such celebrated contemporaries as Pat Martino and Larry Coryell, the 65-year-old guitarist has been flying under the radar since the release of his debut record, 1973's Windows on the Mainstream label. A one-time member of Buddy Rich's working septet of the early '70s and accompanist to a bevy of great jazz singers over the years, from Sarah Vaughan, Chris Connor and Jay Clayton to Morgana King, Nancy Harrow and Amy London, Wilkins remains highly regarded in guitar circles.

"Tony Adamo has essentially created a new genre: "HipSpokenWord." His inventions are certainly hip and relevant; they are mostly spoken, though occasionally sung; and the words are extremely powerful and relevant. With the assistance of Producer Mike Clark, one of the most renowned Jazz/Funk drummers to ever wield sticks, Tony has concocted a topical masterpiece in "Miles of Blu." Tony Adamo will release a remixed version of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby"

Tony Adamo will release a remixed version of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby." Tony Adamo first recorded the cover of "Eleanor Rigby" in 2011 on Urbanzone Records. Legendary drummer Mike Clark on drums
"In addition to writing really appealing originals, what Adamo does to the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” is remarkable. He makes a statement. There are other covers here that he does quite well (Richard Torrance’s “Rio De Janiero Blue” and The Temptations’ “The Way You Do The Things You Do” are two), but this one deserves a standing ovation."Ronald Jackson/The Smoothjazz Radio Show

Tony Adamo/ MOB

Tony Adamo reaches into the pre-rap turf of Gil Scott-Heron here with this seductive too-short flash memoir about how he discovered jazz and its legendary envelope-pushers—Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis. There’s energy and honor and wonder in Adamo’s words, especially in the fluid alliterative syncopated way the words reflect the inspiration that jazz gave him—as an artist, as a human being. Complementing his nimble vocals are former Herbie Hancock drummer Mike Clark and guitarist Steve Homan, both of whose equally homage-ist beats and licks, respectively, are clean but entirely their own.
Devon Jackson has written about music and film for a variety of publications--from Entertainment Weekly and The Village Voice to Rolling Stone and Details. He is also the author of Conspiranoia! and currently the editor of Santa Fean magazine.
