The Headhunters
are coming! The legendary ensemble that redefined funk are finishing work on a new release. Co-leaders Mike Clark
& Bill Summers are back! Clark the iconic drummer and architect of the East
Bay Funk sound along with esteemed world music guru Bill Summers are adding
some new talent to the mix including Nu-jazz vocal visionary Tony Adamo! The natural evolution of the Head Hunters East
Bay Funk Sound goes on a global groove of epic proportions.
Adamo’s beatnik cool with a Nu-jazz flair
takes old school funk and spins it new cool contemporary to enlighten a new
audience with a righteous groove and a beat you hear with your feet! Mike
Clark’s description of Tony’s talent, “His deep blues, Oakland style funk and
jazz roots are locked in at a deep emotional level!” All*About*Jazz remarked,
“As a vocalist, Adamo’s exciting, highly-energetic interpretations avoid any
faux hip inflections.”
Mike Clark
and Bill Summers are writing music for Adamo’s upcoming release. Also enlisted
as musical co-conspirators and writing for both the new release and live show
are Tim Ouimette of Ray Charles and Ray Baretto fame and former musical
