'Doc' Kupka gets hip to Tony Adamo's "What is Hip"

"I love Tony's version of "What Is Hip?". He evokes the beatnik-bongo days of my youth and gives a whole new slant to a hard-charging funk tune. Congrats to both Tony Adamo and Jerry Stucker!" Stephen 'Doc' Kupka, Tower of Power co-founder

A Review on Tony Adamo's "What is Hip"
This is a very interesting take on a hit song. For lovers of jazz, baby boomers, they will be right at home with song. This song evokes memories of Gil-Scott Heron, the Last Poets and others poets of late 60's/70's who used music to give life to their poetry which was the real foundation for hip hop.

Jim Santella of L.A. JAZZ SCENE MAGAZINE digs Adamo’s strong original style and says, “He sings with the bold character of a man who knows how to entertain, recalling pop singers Tom Jones, David Clayton-Thomas and Brook Benton, as well as jazz singers Al Jarreau and Mark Murphy.” With Tony Adamo’s smooth funk vocals, the triple threat of TOP horns and the rhythm section applying pressure to the groove, this song will be the sound of the summer"
